July 2014

Hello friends!

It's been quite a while since I've last posted. I've been enjoying the summer so far, spending a lot of time at the local flea markets & teaching myself how to cook. I've acquired a lot of new slides during these recent thrift/flea adventures.  Here are two of my favorites so far:

I've also been reading a lot of Margaret Atwood and listening to a lot of classic folk & country tunes. Check out the Dolly Parton illustration I did for a recent silent art auction:

Queen of Locust Ridge Ink, Glitter, Watercolor - 2014 Measures 11 3/4" by 15 3/4" framed This work was created for the Mattress Factory's 2014 Urban Garden Party art auction. Every year the Garden Party has a fun theme (Wild West), and the auction item object (horseshoes) relates to the theme. Artists choose how they want to incorporate the auction object - I choose to honor one of the greatest 'luck wishers' around - Dolly Parton. Who else champions - you being you - than the glitzy queen of doing what you damn well please. Good luck out there. Perhaps this will launch a series of works honoring some of my favorite gals of country music? Loretta Lynn,Kitty Wells, Wanda Jackson...
